The 2025 boat regatta was a success held and showcased by the calculus and pre-calculus teacher Mrs. Anderson-Dewitt. She’s been hosting this event for a couple years now and supplies all of her classes with cardboard donated from users and duct-tape she fundraises for.
The designs were as varied as the students themselves. A Polly Pocket car, complete with a cardboard windshield, bobbed nervously beside a long brown boat decorated with silly purple tape. With boats sinking and coming out of the water new boats line up to try and make it to the end of the pool to claim various prizes. Some boats surged ahead, their occupants paddling with determined strokes, while others wobbled precariously, already taking on water. The crowd roared with laughter and encouragement as one by one; the less seaworthy creations began to succumb to the inevitable, their captains bailing furiously or accepting their watery fate with good-natured grins.
In the end, it was “Minecraft” boat, constructed by the senior team, who claimed victory. But the real triumph wasn’t just about winning, it was about teamwork, and the creativity that allowed and push for this regatta to even happen.
