This year’s homecoming festivities have wrapped up, with spirit week, the parade, the game, and the dance having gone successfully.
On Friday Oct. 3, the homecoming parade took place, with the weather being unusually warm. The homecoming court lead the way in the parade with the marching band and cheer team right behind, along with others in procession. This year’s floats were a sight to see, beginning with the senior float as Rapunzel‘s tower. Following with the junior float being Cinderella’s Carriage. Lastly, sophomores taking onlookers away with their rose in the glass case from Beauty and the Beast.
Senior marching band member Justine Brun was in the parade. “The parade was very long and very hot, but it was fun overall,” Brun said.
The Panthers played against Utica at the homecoming football game that evening, and despite a loss of 14-7, there were still highlights about the event. During half time, the homecoming queen and king were officially announced. Aliyannah Daniels was crowned queen, and Da’Myron Brown was crowned king. The new royals were crowned by last year’s king and queen, Michael Chude and Keyonna Scorpio.
The theme of the dance, which commenced that Saturday, was “Once Upon a Fairytale”. Student Assembly members put together the decorations that included wall-to-wall mirrors, hanging flowers in the entrance, and the balloon arch bordering the dance floor. The activities consisted of games, the photobooth, and the dance floor as always.
“I think the dance went very well; I had a lot of fun,” senior Jada Jenkins said.
