The National Honor Society is an organization that brings academically gifted students together to make an impact on society. The new president of NHS is senior Daniel Kesterson with senior Aliyanah Daniels by his side as vice president. Together they are seen as mentors guiding member by example. Students of the NHS are held to a higher standard, they are all brought together to help the community by volunteering their time. Each student must get 10 hours of community service each quarter. They have created a new connection with American House where many of the students have opportunities to volunteer. Junior Peyton Redford was one of those members who attended. She was asked what her experience was while volunteering.
βIt was fun, the people were very nice. It was nice to meet the residents and help them out,β Redford said.
Recently, the NHS has been taken under new management by Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Collias, and with these new roles, they have brought many new ideas to the organization.
βI was interested in becoming an NHS sponsor because I’ve always been interested in volunteering and other service projects, and I want others to be able to share that experience as well,β Burns said.
One of them being improving the school by tackling the trophy cases at Roseville High School. At the next meeting, the NHS students will come together to organize and decorate the trophy cases to improve the look of the school and show off how proud RHS is of all sports.
