On Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9, the girls swim team competed in divisions at Sterling Heights High School. For the first time since 2004, the team won the Macomb Area Conference (M.A.C.) News broke on Tuesday, Oct. 22, when the Detroit Lions traded starting safety Quandre Diggs (along with a 2021 seventh round draft pick) to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2020 fifth round pick. Detroit just defeated the New York Giants with a score of 31-26, making their record 3-3-1 and placing them third in the N.F.C. North. Quandre Diggs was a trade deadline casualty because of the deadline being Oct. 29. RHS Marching Band participates in CMU Band Day

On Saturday, Sept. 14, the RHS marching band took a day trip to Central Michigan University for CMU Band Day. About a dozen marching bands came from different schools all over Michigan to play. The students’ day started at 5 a.m. at RHS. The band met up to take attendance and start their two and a half hour bus ride to CMU.  When the RHS students first arrived, they were greeted by CMU’s band director. The Panthers seemed to come alive in their clash with the Cousino Patriots during their game on Friday, Sept. 13. They showed their abilities on both sides of the ball, leaving Cousino scoreless with a final score of 42-0, moving to a record of 1-2 this season. After losing two games in a row to University of Jesuit (17-6) and Chippewa Valley High School (54-6), the Panthers turned around and played an explosive game against the Patriots. On Tuesday, Sept. 10, the varsity girls swim team went up against Stevenson High School at their first home meet of the season. The competition was strong because Stevenson is in M.A.C (Macomb Area Conference) . gold, one division above our swim team. Cross country kicks season off with strong start

 With the start of the school year comes the start of many sports, including cross country.  The team kicked off the year with their first meet at Goodells Park on Sept. 7.  The varsity boys started the season strong with a great run from senior Ryan Charles, coming in first at 19 minutes and 13 seconds, with junior Ja'wuan Jackson coming right behind at 19 minutes and 20 seconds. CC goes to regionals

The cross country team had their final meet on Friday, Oct. 26. The team ran their way through regionals at Metro Beach and placed 18th overall. The team also said goodbye to two of their beloved senior runners, captain Dylan Johnson and Kris Farley, as they ran the last race of their careers The varsity boys ran one of their best races of the season, while half the team broke their personal records one last time this season.  Johnson finished the season with a final run of 19.01, and Farley finished with 19.25. On October 26 at 7:00 p.m, the RHS football team had played their last game of the season.With a lot of effort from both teams, the panthers fell short with the final score being 41-32. The varsity football team took another win Friday, Oct. 19, 76-32, against Eastpointe. They broke the school record on most points scored in a game and also made the playoffs for the second year in a row. In this last home game of the season, everyone on the team gave their jersey to a teacher who had an impact in their years throughout high school. Tuesday, Oct. 23, the girls swim team held their last meet of the season. Up against Cousino, the girls put forward their best effort and won 90-84. The night started off with the 200 medley relay. The A team, consisting of senior Caitlin Michael swimming backstroke, junior Kara Lightfoot swimming butterfly, junior Kayla Kornelson swimming breaststroke, and junior Mackenzie Smith swimming freestyle, won first place in the race. Cross Country goes to division championships

On Thursday Oct. 18 the cross country team went to one of their final meets of the season, the division championships. The weather held out for them as the team ran one of their best meets this year at Metro Beach. On Wednesday Oct. 19, RHS’ girls junior team came out to compete against the senior team in a game of powderpuff. The ball went to the juniors first to start the 45 minute flag football game on RHS’s field. In the first half, the ball got turned over to the seniors, who then had Lauren Orler pushing through her competition to score the first touchdown.
