The RHS volleyball seniors had a night to remember this past Wednesday. Despite the team losing the game, the seniors were able to experience their first and only senior night. Players Melissa Kirkendolph, Keyonna Scorpio, and Silayah Purnell had an amazing experience having their family and friends show love and support at their game. The underclassmen on the team made each of them a senior basket for the game to show their teammates love and encouragement. The team’s last regular season game is against Port Huron High School.
Kirkendolph, Scorpio, and Purnell have been playing volleyball all four years of their high school career, being a multi-sport athlete. All of them ran track and played volleyball. Scorpio and Kirkendolph play basketball as well.
“I’m sad that it’s almost over because you really don’t realize it’s about to end until it actually does,” Kirkendolph said.
On Wednesday, Oct. 30, they will play Port Huron and will go on to districts at Lanse Creuse on Nov. 4 in hopes of bringing home a championship. As the final whistle blows, it will mark the last game our seniors will play on the home court. The crowd will give a loud round of applause as these young ladies finish their final home match.
