The 2017 baseball season has officially concluded. They ended the season with an outstanding record of 18 wins and 3 losses. On May 30 and June 2, the varsity baseball team competed in the Macomb county district championship. The team won two out of three games in the tournament. The squad defeated the Lakeshore Shorains five to three and blew out the East Detroit Shamrocks 23-0. The final game was against L’Ance Creuse Lancers and Panthers fought tooth and nail and unfortunately fell short of beating the Lancers for the district title. Here is a brief stat coverage...

On May 24,the girls varsity soccer team competed against Sterling Heights. The game was dedicated to the seniors for senior night. The game was not just any average girls’ soccer game but, it was the last regular season game of the year and the team had accomplished the win. This win was the game that made all their dreams come true. The game that made the whole community proud. On Tuesday, May 24,  the girls' Varsity Softball team had their final home game of the season. At the beginning of the game, high school honored the seniors. For all they have done for the school, their many achievements, and contribution to their team. The four seniors being honored are Kearia Vest, Kaitlyn Hall, Kylie Hoff, and Haley Kavala. Varsity Baseball: 1-2 This year the Varsity Boys’ baseball team has had a rather sluggish start to begin the season. They are 1-2 after a couple of rain outs had robbed them of a winning record this season. Currently, they are 1-0 in the division after a recent 4-1 win against South Lake in extra innings. This month we have chosen two juniors, varsity girls soccer captain Brianna Lind and varsity baseball player Jacoby Dale. Varsity coach Brad VandeVorde and junior varsity coach Chris Mahla hosted a meeting on Feb. 10 for all girls looking to try out for the spring season. At the meeting, the coaches discussed conditioning and tryout dates and what they expect from each student. “What I expect this year is what I expect year out of my players: being committed and working together to achieve the ultimate goal,” VandeVorde said. He also added that he wants them to give 100 percent not only on the field, but in the classroom. After school workouts will take place Feb.23 and 25 upstairs outside the library from 3-4pm. Then from Feb. 29 – March 10, conditioning will take place in the same location from 3-4:30pm. Tryouts will take place March 14 and 15. Both coaches are looking forward to the 2016 season,...

BASEBALL After finishing 12-5 last year, varsity coach Keith Marzec and the team have been killing it. They have seven wins, one loss, and are 5-0 in the MAC Silver division. Their pitching has been tremendous with senior Austin Morrow, who has been lights out with a 2-0 record, 28 strikeouts, and a .857 earned run average along with junior Evan Gates with a 2-1 record, 22 strikeouts, and a .792 ERA. On Wednesday, April 15, RHS varsity baseball had a victory of 8-2 against Sterling Heights. Offensively, the Panthers had a big-hitting game,and were up 5-0 after the first inning.  Junior Matt Fowler went 3-3 with three RBI's, while junior Nikko Bohnhoff had one RBI. Seniors Joey Petrone and Austin Morrow individually both got a single and an RBI, and sophomore Dylan Rochon went 3-3 as well. The Panthers had a great defensive game with junior Evan Gates as the winning pitcher.  The Panthers are currently 2-1 overall, and 1-0 in the MAC Silver division....

Track Track and Field began practices and are now on the heels of their first meet. It will be held April 1 at Macomb Community College at 4pm. There will be an additional freshmen/sophomore meet on April 10 at Dakota. April 28 will be the first of the only two home meets this season against Warren Woods Tower.
