To spread some holiday excitement around the school, a classroom door decorating contest took place Monday through Thursday last week. Teachers and their second hour students got to create a colorful Christmas themed door to compete with the other classes. All types of themes were on display. From the Grinch to red-nosed reindeer, and to hippos in Santa hats! It was a great way to make the school hallways look more festive in time for the holidays.
The winners of the competition were carefully decided on Thursday by the Student Assembly Special Events Committee. Joshua Rolder’s class came in first place with the iconic Polar Express on his door. Brenna Roush and her class’s beautiful pink gingerbread house door came in second place. Finally, Josh Kovach’s class came in third place, adorned with pictures of all his News and Broadcasting students on a Grinch themed door.
Rolder proudly claimed his class’s bragging rights for having the top door. “I do stuff different in Rolder territory. If anybody wants to challenge me to give me a run at my money for the doors, I’ll be seeing you next year,” Rolder said.
The prize for winning the contest is donuts for the entire class. The algebra teacher and his students will happily enjoy the sweet, frosted treat.
