As the 2023-2024 school year starts to really become routine for all students and staff, everyone is starting to get comfortable and into the groove of their classes. This year we had about 16 new staff members join our school, which is a lot of new faces to meet and get to know. Through this web story, you will get to know 4 new staff members! Now, without further ado, meet…
One of our new English teachers, Miss. Phelan Johnson! Johnson is teaching grades 10-11 this school year. When asked what brought her to Roseville Johnson gave a simple yet in depth answer, “They had a job for me. I also really liked their stance on things like restorative justice and having restorative room here, I think it’s a really important aspect.” Johnson said. When asked how the school year was going, Johnson’s response was short and straightforward, “hectic. I feel like I’m drowning in stuff to, but I am having a lot of fun!” Johnson said. Outside of school Johnson revealed that she likes to crochet, she is currently working on a blanket for her brother!
The next new staff member I will introduce to you is Miss. Andreana Woodward. She is the new Culinary ParaPro this year. Woodward is a dog mom and “spends every spare moment with her husky!” Woodward said. She also shared that she sees a bright future for the culinary program of Roseville! When asked what brought her to Roseville she responded with a heartwarming response. Woodward said, “I love working with food and I wanted to give back to my community”. Woodward’s main goal for the year is making sure every one of the students in the culinary program passes ServSafe.
The next “new” staff member I will introduce to you Mr. Shawn Thompson. Now technically this Is not Mr. Thompson’s first year at RHS. Thompson actually started last year in the 2022-2023 school year as a ParaPro himself. But this year, he has a new position. This year he is the head culinary teacher! “This year has been great! Great kids, Great atmosphere!” Thompson said. Outside of school Thompson coaches’ girls’ softball and spends extra time with his family and dog. “My biggest goal by the end of the year is to make sure every kid in my class knows how to cook for their future!” Thompson said.
