The American Red Cross came to RHS on Thursday Nov.7 for the annual blood drive with students and staff. It was held from 8am- 2pm and many students volunteered to participate in the event. Students had to go through getting their fingers pricked and complete a questionnaire to meet donation requirements. “I would donate blood again. I like knowing I saved up to three people’s lives,” senior Faith Tucker said.
I personally donated blood, and I felt amazing doing it. Red Cross Staff made sure we were comfortable and could stop at any moment if felt uncomfortable. Snacks and beverages were provided in case anyone felt a bit lightheaded after getting blood drawn. Nevertheless, the blood drive was a success this year. There were over 16 units of blood that were donated. Knowing I am saving lives makes me want to do it more often. It’s always good to help those in need, so I encourage anyone who is eligible to go to their nearest American Red Cross donation location.
