The varsity volleyball team had quite a season to remember. Their record was 3-10. They had ups and downs but managed to improve through every game. Next year, the team is looking forward to playing with each other again, unfortunately without the seniors Keyonna Scorpio, Silayah Purnell and Melissa Kirkendolph. Scorpio is a middle hitter, Purnell is an outside hitter, and Kirkendolph is a defense specialist. The seniors majorly impacted the team and were great examples for the underclassman. The juniors on the team are Lisa Defour, lyana Lee-Faulkner, Randa Hamdan, Jayla Rucker, and Vanessa Moreno. The sophomores are Emma Desnoyer, Kassidy Edwards, Kori Kittrell, and Arianna Kittrell. They were coached by Nicole Golden.
The team impacted each other and had such an amazing sister-like bond. On Nov. 4, they had their last district game, against Lakeview High School. When the last point scored, the seniors realized they would not play volleyball again in a Roseville jersey. It was an emotional moment. Although the game ended with a loss, the team still cherished every second of it. Coach Nicole Golden made sure the team pushed through the loss and thought about the positive things to come.
“I’m sad this season’s over because this felt like my first season really having a coach that continuously improved me and having girls that built me up even despite my mistakes,”
Rucker said.
