The RHS varsity basketball team made school history for the first time since 1954, by securing a hard fought victory in the regional championship. With determination, teamwork, and strong leadership, the team played through the tournament and came out on top. The regional game kept fans on the edge of their seats. Both teams played aggressively, but the panthers maintained control with strong defense securing the win with a final score of 70-47 against Port Huron Northern. By halftime, they were already up by more than 20 points.
“It felt good to finally make it so far in the championship, especially as a senior and I’m very grateful to have Coach Porter by my side,” senior Ryan Davis said.
This victory reflects the teams’ hard work throughout the season, as well as the support from coaches, students, and the panther community.
They even got an award from the state representative “Mai Xiong” for pushing through a long, tough and compelling season.
