In Milk Glass Moon by Adriana Trigiani, Ave Maria MacChesney is dealing with the hard reality of watching her daughter, Etta, grow up and become more independent. The story shows how Ave goes from being the most important person in Etta’s life to feeling like she is slowly moving into the background. Most of the book takes place in Virginia, but later the family travels to Italy.
This book reminded me of the show Gilmore Girls because both are set in small towns and focus on the close relationship between a mother and daughter. The story is warm, emotional, and easy to read. If you are looking for a relaxing book about family, change, and growing up, this is a wonderful choice.
