Being the Petey the Panther is more than just putting on the suit and just walking around. The mascot is often the face of the school, interacting with students, parents, and community members, and creating lasting memories for all those who come in contact with him.
Despite the challenges and demands of being the high school mascot, the experience is incredibly rewarding. It provides an opportunity to make a positive impact on the school community, forge lasting friendships, and create unforgettable memories. The bonds formed with fellow students, athletes, and fans can last a lifetime, and the sense of pride and accomplishment that comes with representing the school is truly speechless.
Since last year and up until now, I have been the mascot. Being the mascot for two years has been great – stressful, fun, and exciting all at the same time. It is not as easy as people think. As the year is coming to an end, the WRHS Production team is hosting the first ever Petey the Panther tryouts in the WRHS studio on Friday May24 from 3pm-4:30pm.
