On May 6, the eighth graders came to Roseville High School for their eighth grade sneak-peek event. Specific students got to sign up for a twenty-minute interest session of different programs that the school offers. During these sessions WRHS wanted to do something different and not only show the students around the new studio, but also what a production would normally look like with them being involved.
Senior Bryan Weathersby started the session by introducing the members in the class and what they do. The WRHS media team played a quick video of their morning announcements then brought the students over to the studio. For their “sneak peek” the WRHS media team set up a podcast starring senior Dennis Henderson as the main host. Senior Anyla Pack asked for several eighth graders to volunteer for the podcast. The students were very shy but excited to be featured on the first ever ‘Panther Talk’ podcast. Getting them comfortable on camera and breaking them out of their comfort zone is great for their transition from middle school to high school.
“I enjoyed watching the students be able to participate in our first ever podcast,” Pack said. After the eighth graders left the WRHS advisor and teacher Joshua Kovach and Henderson started editing the podcast and quickly uploaded the video to the WRHS Productions YouTube page. “It was a really good experience seeing future panthers being involved in one of their interest they all did a great job,” said Kovach.
