Lights, Camera, Action! On Tuesday Dec. 19 and Thursday Dec. 21, the theater class performed “A Modern Christmas Carol” featuring senior Simmone Norwood, senior Ayden Laughhunn, senior Jorgianna Crawford, sophomore Alissa Grimes, junior Adrian Harris, sophomore Jazzmen Jones, sophomore Quintaysia Pope, freshman Lee Elliot, sophomore Parrish Dabney, and sophomore Devin Wilson, and freshman Taryn Dixon. By the looks of it, the audience enjoyed the play and even asked us questions after the play.
Let us hear what some of our actors said about the play. “I feel like we did well, I wish I did wait a little longer to say ‘very well’ so the backstage people can do their stuff, but none the less we did good, I feel like my lines are so popularized it was understandable for them, and my favorite part was probably when my stomach fell out, so I had to pick it up,” sophomore Devin Wilson said. Let’s hear what another one of our actors said about the play. “I feel as if we did very well during the play, especially during the beginning scenes. I personally didn’t have any hard lines; I was able to memorize all of them within about a week. My personal favorite part is when all the carolers start the opening scene and Mrs. Scrooge ruins it all,” sophomore Parrish Dabney said.
The energy from the audience really set the tone for our actors. The relief that was felt after performing was a wonderful feeling. This was an amazing performance by our cast and crew, let’s give a big shoutout to our stage directors junior Laila Loving and senior Amiah Thomas. Our lighting and sound crew sophomore Courtney Pratt and junior Alana Roman. Our backstage and prop crew junior Andre’a Brown, junior Hannah Kuharick, junior Xavier Pullen, senior Za’veon Richardson, senior Lateia Sims, Sadieanne Stefanson, and Jason Swain. And our makeup crew junior December Chatman, junior Marisa Cheeks, junior Aziarya Gulledge, junior Sevyn Shelton, senior Sarah Swain, and senior Laci Zettner. And another hug shoutout to the choir and theatre director Ms. Meade for being able to pull off this amazing performance.
