This year’s varsity football team has completed another successful season. The highlight moment was when they scored the final touchdown against Grosse Pointe South, winning the game and the district championship.
The fourth quarter started out tied 17-17, but with a 7-yard pass completed to #15, Anthony Scott, for a touchdown. Then, with one minute remaining in the fourth quarter , Scott intercepted a pass attempted by Grosse Pointe South. The game ended with the score being 24-17, making Roseville High School the district champions. “Felt great to get back after those previous losses, and it was an amazing win to enjoy with my brothers,” Corey Cobb Jr., varsity football team member, said.
The team went to take on De La Salle for their first regional game at Wayne State University’s Tom Adams field. By the Third quarter De La Salle was ahead by 28 points, with nothing scored by Roseville. However, in the fourth quarter Roseville made a slight comeback, making the score 14-34 by the end of the game. A disappointing loss for the Panthers, however RHS is proud of our team for making this season so memorable, even through the losses. “I honestly feel like we could’ve competed better, but even though we lost I’m still proud of the team,” Timothy Palmer, varsity football team member, said. The Panthers ended the season with an impressive 8-2 overall.
Congratulations to our varsity football Panthers on a great season, and being district champs. Let’s make next season even better, and let’s get De La Salle next year!
