“Be the change” is a movement inspired by our varsity football team and Coach Vernard Snowden back during the Covid pandemic. Since then, RHS has implemented the philosophy into the attendance program which encourages students to be on time. It is important for students to approach the school year with a mindset for success.
“‘Be the change” teaches us to be leaders and not followers, by not doing what every person is doing,” Snowden said. Throughout the school, posters provide daily reminders of this idea for students with bold, positive messages, including the importance of daily attendance.
Participating in this movement will benefit students in the future and create a difference in how they view life. Viewing life with a positive mindset allows us to be present. Students cannot be afraid to be the first to do something, even the smallest thing can make the biggest difference.
Recently, junior Matthew Bowman was recognized for doing the smallest gesture, by simply holding the door for students and teachers. This shows students that honorable deeds never go unrecognized.
