Thursday, Jan. 5, the swim team competed against Centerline High School. The team competed in 16 events taking first and second place, resulting in winning the meet 74-87. The team is celebrating their win, but still working hard in practice to continue improving.

This year, the swim team is co-ed, meaning that both the boys’ and girls’ teams are swimming as one team.

During the meet, senior Austin Barnett qualified for counties in his 200-freestyle, his 50-freestyle, and his 100-freestyle. “Qualifying for counties has always been a dream that sat in the back of my mind. I never really thought I could do it, but I proved myself wrong. I can’t wait to see what else I can do,” Barnett said.

Sophomore Elise Birr swam the 100 backstroke and freestyle in the 200-freestyle relay and 400-freestyle relay. “It was pretty nerve-wracking, but I had a lot of fun with my friends,” Birr said.

Continue supporting the swim team at their next meet against Warren Woods Tower on Jan. 10.
