On Dec. 7, sophomores Sumner Hull, Paige Armbrister, Colton Masterson, and Luis Gomez-Veloz of the REST team went to Heritage Hall at the Michigan State Capital.

The four students were invited to present at the student technology showcase, and when they put in an application for the presentation, they were accepted. “I was nervous and stressed at first, but it was really cool and funny,” Hull said.

While they were there, they were noticed by representative Richard Steenland and were invited to watch the Senate meeting.

“It felt good to witness what goes on in the senate in person,” Armbrister said.

The next steps for the REST club are preparing for their first competition where robots face in a multi-stage competition across the nation.
