Binge-worthy shows and movies to watch during quarantine
November 6, 2020
Since the school year ended on a short notice, students have had a vast amount of free-time during the day while being in quarantine due to COVID-19. As most the student body is now enrolled in virtual classes, there are still times in the day where some different screen time is needed. Usually, many people use the popular streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and more to cure the boredom. However, there are a few top-tier shows that will make you want to get the popcorn ready!
The Society is a perfect mysterious tv series featured on Netflix. The plot takes place in West Ham, CT, where high school students are supposed to be going on a week-long field trip. However, the bus the students were on takes them back home, where they are the only people left in the entire town. So, they must work together and form their own type of government, ration food, and give jobs for everyone to do since there is no exit. Although releasing May of 2019, it is still worth it to watch season one since unfortunately there will not be a season two due to the pandemic.
“I found The Society really interesting and I love the way the plot developed. Especially with how we got to know the characters and their lives and relationships over the short series. It has that mysterious feeling that made me just want to watch more and made me question what was going to happen next.” senior Carissa Howell said.
Outer Banks is another great example of a teen drama series. John B. (played by Chase Stokes) is a 16-year old from the Outer Banks in North Carolina. He is in a group called the “Pogues” who want to find out what happened to his missing father. While he and his friends are searching for answers, they find another lead, but that lead comes with gold. The Pogues, however, are not the only people in search of finding the gold.
Released just a few months ago on Sept. 25, Enola Holmes was in the top 10 on Netflix. Enola (portrayed by Millie Bobby Brown) finds out her mother went missing on her sixteenth birthday and is on a journey to find her. She sets foot on a train while escaping her brothers Mycroft and Sherlock where they want to send her to a finishing school. On the train, Holmes meets Viscount Tewkesbury (played by Louis Partridge) and tells him there is a man looking for him. They jump off the train and part ways. The rest of the story is for you to find out.

the only thing on this list that i’ve watched so far is enola holmes, but it was phenomenal. i will, however, take some time to watch the two other shows, because like a lot of students, i have a ton of freetime.
