On Tuesday, Jan. 21, the boy’s varsity swim team swam away against Fitzgerald High School.  The boys had several personal records (P.R’s.) and gained extra points from their diver, junior Shannon Urick. Fitzgerald is a co-ed team which threw Roseville off right away when they walked in.

Starting the meet, the swimmers lined up for the national anthem in unity. All hyped up and ready to go, the A Medley Relay made up of seniors Zachary Flicker, Brian Nankervis, Shaun Green and sophomore Chistopher Myers came in first place, followed by the Roseville B Relay made up of senior Luther Hall, junior Lucas Horsley, freshmen Parker Kinsora and Austin Barnett. In the 100 yard butterfly, Myers flew into second place, and  Urick came in fourth. Nankervis swooped first in the 200 yard freestyle, tapping in second place. Barnett breezily grabbed first place in the 500 yard freestyle. In the competitive 100 yard freestyle, Kinsora came in first place with a speedy quick time of 1:07, also securing third place in the 50 yard freestyle. Flicker finished first in the 200 Individual Medley (I.M.)

During diving, Urick did not have anyone else to go against but himself. After five flips, spins, and tucks, he did not only make county cuts, but also brought in several points for the team, bringing the final score to 109-67. It was Roseville’s first win of the season.

The next boys varsity swim meet is Tuesday, Jan. 28. at South Lake High School from 6:00p.m. to 7:30p.m.
