After what seemed to be an eternity, the hit Netflix series On My Block returned with another season. Season two, released on March 29, was filled with tears, laughter and plot twists that will keep the watcher on their feet for all ten episodes. All of our beloved favorites have returned, including Monse (Sierra Capri), Cesar (Diego Tinoco), Jamal (Brett Gray), Ruby (Jason Genao), and Jasmin ( Jessica Marie Garcia), who was promoted to a series regular. The series picks up after the tragedy of the end of season one, with Ruby out of the hospital and well. Unfortunately, not all of the crew made it, as Olivia (Ronni Hawk) was pronounced dead in episode one as they gather around her vigil saying their goodbyes.

Throughout the episodes, the storylines from season one are still followed as Jamal and the gang try to figure out what to do with the Rollerworld money, along with keeping it a secret from everyone else in Freeridge. Monse and Cesar finally go public with their relationship, but struggle when they both are faced with hard decisions that could ruin what took them so long to build. While this is happening Cesar is also struggling with other things, as he is now homeless from the mess he caused in season one. His gang ices him out, leaving him going from home to home with no family support, not even from his brother Oscar (Julio Macias). Oscar does, however, form an unlikely bond with Ruby as he struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder (P.T.S.D.) following the shooting. Ruby also gets help from Jasmin and he finds comfort in being around her, unlike season one where the crew tended to ignore her and brush her off. Season two tied all the storylines from season one together and helped showcases the aftermath of the shooting and how each character grieved in a different way.

On My Block was one of the most anticipated shows of 2019 ever since it was announced in April 2018 that a season two was coming out. The writers did an amazing job keeping the light-hearted and funny aspects of the show, while also hitting on real topics such as PTSD, colorism, gang violence and more. Many teens can relate to the problems faced in the show which makes it such a hit. Netflix has had many shows, but On My Block was ranked its most binge-watched show of 2018, and season two scored an impressive 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. With all the buzz about season two Netflix proudly announced On My Block will be getting a season three come next year, but in the meantime On My Block is streaming on Netflix now.
