Calling all freshmen for Link Crew’s cocoa and cram

Emily Soehren, Business Manager

So far in this school year, Link Crew has been helping the freshmen adjust to the changes that come with going from middle school to high school. They have been working with them and checking up on how they are doing. The end of first trimester is soon approaching and that means that students are going to have to take exams for each of their classes. Grades are basically final and now it is time to put their knowledge to the test. Now freshmen have never taken high school exams before, so Link Crew has decided to set up an event, called cocoa and cram, so they can work with their link crew leaders to get help with their reviews.

On Monday, Nov. 26, and Tuesday, Nov. 27, freshmen are welcomed to stay after school from 3:00-4:00, so they can start reviewing for their exams. In the Makerspace, Link Crew is going to be set up to help any freshman that stops by and they are going to help them to the best of their abilities. The link leaders will be split into the four core classes, English, history, science, and math, so students can get help in all four classes if they need it. The link leaders have gone to the freshmen teachers to get the reviews, so they know what the freshmen need to know for their final. Freshmen will be able to get one-on-one tutoring with students who have already taken their classes and they can also play different games that will quiz them on the knowledge that they have that the link leaders will be setting up for them. Also, after the studying, there will be busing to the nearest elementary school for the students. Cocoa and cram is going to be a different way of getting freshmen help from their peers and get them prepared for their exams.

“I’m excited to be able to help the freshmen study for their first high school exams. I remember stressing about them my freshman year and I am glad that I can help,” link leader Caitlyn Hudek said.
