Earlier this week, Jan.31,the Panthers swim team tied with Warren Mott High School to end Tuesday’s meet with a score of 85 to 85. This is the first tie of the season, and gives the boys that extra push to finish off the season. The team expected it to be a close meet, but not that close.

Well the boys started off by not scoring too well in the first two events, which are the 200 yard medley relay and the 200 yard freestyle. Then they gained the lead with the 200 yard individual medley (IM), the 50 yard freestyle, and the 100 yard butterfly.

“Our team is doing great this season, we have a lot of new talent on our team and everyone is improving each and every meet, getting their top personal times and having good races,” coach Kevin Baughman said.

Sophomore Anthony Normandin took first place in the 200 IM which gave a boost to the score. In the 100 yard butterfly, senior Santonian Adams took first and junior Farris Batarseh took second. Throughout the night, the teams fought back and forth for first place. At the beginning of the second to last event (the 100 yard breaststroke), the score was tied at 62. Mott took a two point lead when they finished first and then third in the breaststroke. In the last event, the 400 freestyle relay, the guys took first, third, and fourth while Mott took second, fifth, and sixth. This led to the final score of 85 points for both Mott and the Panthers.
