RHS Football players sign to the next level

On February 1, 2023, two Panther football players signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at the Division II level.

Seniors Elijah Baker and Dezzmon Meriwether made things official with their future colleges. It was an exciting day to watch the two players accomplish something they’ve dreamt of.

Next year, Baker will be majoring in business or nursing at Grand Valley State University. Baker is a linebacker, and he has been playing football for nine years. “I picked Grand Valley because I feel that it’s the best decision for me to succeed on and off the field,” Baker said.

Meriwether will be majoring in health care management with a minor in legal studies at Davenport University in the fall. Meriwether is a nose guard. He has been playing football for 13 years. “I picked Davenport because I love the area, it’s very social. The academics are great and will get me somewhere far in life to bring mental health awareness to the world,” Meriwether said.

As we wrap up our winter sports seasons, RHS teachers, coaches, and students look forward to sharing more signing day memories with college bound athletes.
