As the morning began, the rush to get ready for prom commenced. Although not having a normal year, the junior prom committee made it a priority to give the 2021 class a night to keep in their minds.

On May 20, prom was hosted at the Vintage House following protocols to make sure all students remain safe. Dinner was set to begin at 7 p.m.  and the rest of the night was for everyone to enjoy. The theme this year was “Hanami” meaning flower viewing which is a Japanese traditional custom to watch cherry blossom trees grow. Cherry blossoms were also voted to be the senior flower this year.

“It was worth it for sure, I definitely made some amazing memories and I’m so grateful we had this opportunity even with COVID! I’m so thankful for my friends and my amazing date,” senior Zoe Iannucci-Thompson said.

Plenty of songs were played for everyone to dance to including: Yeah by Usher, Single Ladies by Beyoncé, and Perfect by Ed Sheeran. Life of the Party by Shawn Mendes was also played dedicated to Kira Seymour.

“I thought prom was a huge success and was what everyone needed. After everything that has happened in the past year, it was a great bonding experience for everyone and brought everybody together again after being separated for so long,” senior Michael Chapin said.

Whether you slow danced with another person or as a group, the night was successful and the next and final step is the long-awaited graduation.
