On Saturday, May 1, the varsity softball team competed in a “round robin tournament” hosted by Fitzgerald High School. A round robin is where you play every team once and then whoever has the best record wins the tournament. The lady panthers went 3-0 in the tournament against Clintondale, Fitzgerald and Cardinal Mooney High School. Senior Chloe Grill led the team with 10 RBIs (runs batted in) throughout all three games. Also, freshman Cheyenne Dunlap pitched a no hitter against Cardinal Mooney. The girls have started off the season rough with three seasons ending injuries leaving only nine girls to play, but that has not stopped them from dominating on the field.

“Even with having a season ending injury, my teammates have given it their all and I see the season ending very well for them,” freshman Mackenzie Sawicki said.

This now puts the lady panthers with a season record of 9-2. This was varsity’s softball first tournament win ever. They have three games this week and have another round robin tournament this weekend on May 8, at Grosse Pointe South.
