Yesterday morning, our Symphonic Choir boarded a bus to participate in the MSVMA District Festival. The group performed two musical pieces, one in Latin called “Kyrie Eleison” by Mozart, and another called “The Pasture”, originally written by Robert Frost. The choir also had to sight read sheet music in front of a judge.

After their performance, the group got to hear tips and advice from one of their professional judges. These clinics are meant to improve the performance of the group and provide constructive criticism.

“I did not realize we got a one at first, all I heard was screaming on the bus and then I saw Mrs. Collins holding up one finger, and I was filled with joy,” senior Kaelyn Kowalski said.

Overall, the group received a Division One rating and will be moving on to State Festival, along with soloists and female group Chanson attending State Solo and Ensemble both in April. Students will continue to practice daily until these events arrive.
