Marching band earns one at festival
October 14, 2016
On Tuesday night, RHS marching Panthers stepped onto Port Huron’s field to receive straight ones at MSBOA festival. Since The Beatles show five years ago, they have not earned a one. A one at MSBOA festival is the top ranking for any band, it means you have perfected marching, music, and your performance as a whole. The scale ranges anywhere from a one being the highest and five being the lowest and extremely rare.
“We got straight ones in marching, music, and showmanship. I’m very proud of the band. They’ve worked really hard this season and their work ethic has been great,” band director Daniel Chesher said.
“No one was really expecting to get a one, let alone straight ones. When we got the news it hit me right away, and everyone including me was screaming and crying. It was such an amazing feeling. It really goes to show that hard work pays off,” junior Katrina Archambault said.
