Who will be the next wrestling state placer for Roseville High School?  This year, head coach Justin Petrone has coached 215 pound junior Marcus Fresch and 171 pound senior Josh Butler to their respective first times to the wrestling state tournament hosted at the Palace of Auburn Hills throughout the next few days.

Before the post season, Fresch had a record of 28 wins and seven losses. He worked his way through the season with the determination to place in the top five at the state tournament.  Fresch placed first at both Individual District and Regional finals, and hopes to place first in the state finals.  Fresch will battle against Brandon Egres of Waterford Kettering High School, who he has defeated once this season.

With this being Butler’s first full and last high school wrestling season, he finished the regular season with 26 wins and 21 losses.  Butler has come a long way since the beginning of this year and hopes to place at states.  He placed second at Individual Districts and foUrth at Regionals. Butler will compete against Mathew Heaps from Northern Portage High School who he will face for the first time this season.

The two Panthers will wrestle today March2 through March 4 in hopes of bringing home a medal.
